Information You Send
If you enter a name, phone number, or address in a search form, that submission is sent to the third-party service that powers the results. Alameda County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the search terms on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address contains whatever information the sender chooses to include, and it is used to answer the message.
Routine Technical Logs
The hosting system may record ordinary technical details such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These logs can be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the reference and understand general page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are enabled.
How Information Is Used
Information sent by email is used to reply, identify a technical problem, or handle a request about this reference. Aggregate logs help with security, performance, and content decisions. Search terms are not used by Alameda County Residents Directory to create a private resident profile or to make a decision about a person.

The pages link to county, city, state, federal, library, archive, and sponsored search services. Each outside service sets its own privacy notice, retention practice, cookies, and submission rules. A link does not mean Alameda County Residents Directory controls that service.
Who May Receive Data
Hosting providers, analytics or advertising vendors, and the third-party service behind a search form may process technical or submitted data as part of their own operations. A contact message may be visible to the people who maintain this reference. Information is not sold by Alameda County Residents Directory as a resident list.
Security Practices
Reasonable technical and administrative steps are used for the small amount of information handled here. No internet transmission or storage system is guaranteed to be completely secure. Do not put sensitive identity, financial, medical, or confidential address information into a public contact message or an unrelated search form.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information may use the contact route to request review and deletion from the contact mailbox or available logs.
California Data Rights
Depending on the circumstances, California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, provides rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain sensitive-information uses, and receive nondiscriminatory treatment, subject to coverage and exemptions. The Delete Act provisions in Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following created the CPPA DROP process for certain data-broker deletion requests.
Because this reference keeps little information, a request usually means searching the contact mailbox and available hosting logs for the relevant message or technical record. Use the Contact page to ask. Government records held by California, Alameda County, a city, a court, or a library are outside this reference's control. Requests about those records must go to the custodian.
